Barry Eichengreen is an American economist and economic historian who holds the title of George C. Pardee & Helen N. Pardee Chair and distinguished professor of economics and political science at the University of California, Berkeley.

Additionally, Eichengreen serves as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and as a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. In 1997-98 he was senior policy advisor at the International Monetary Fund.

He has held Guggenheim and Fulbright Fellowships and has been a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences and the Institute for Advanced Study. He is a regular monthly columnist for Project Syndicate. He has written several books on economics.

Eichengreen holds an A.B. University of California, Santa Cruz, an M.A. in economics from Yale University, an M. Phil. in economics from Yale University, an M.A. in history Yale University, and a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
