Siwei Cheng is an associate professor of sociology at New York University. Prior to joining the faculty of NYU, she was assistant professor of sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on inequality, mobility, the labor market, and public opinions on inequality.
Her current work uses network methods to study occupational mobility in the labor market. Another project examines the polarization of jobs and wages between and within occupations.
She received a Ph.D. in sociology and public policy and M.A. in statistics, both from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in economics and mathematical statistics from Peking University.
