Bill Baer is a visiting fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution.

He previously served as the assistant attorney general of the Antitrust Division and as the acting associate attorney general of the U.S. Department of Justice and in a variety of roles at the Federal Trade Commission, including director of the Bureau of Competition.

He received his B.A. from Lawrence University and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.
