Lauren Russell is a Ph.D. candidate in public policy at Harvard University. Her research interests lie in labor economics and public finance, with a focus on the intersections of poverty, race, and inequality.

She is specifically interested in the intersections of neighborhood sorting, residential segregation, U.S housing policy, and the U.S. criminal legal system.

She earned an M.A. in economics from Duke University and a B.A. in classics with a minor in economics from Harvard University. In addition to her passion for research, Russell is passionate about teaching economics to students who are historically underrepresented in the economics field.

She has served as a teaching fellow for advanced econometrics for the American Economics Association’s Summer Pipeline program, and she has served as a teaching fellow for numerous undergraduate econometrics courses at Harvard University.
