Shira Markoff

Shira Markoff is the director of economic policy at the DC Fiscal Policy Institute and a former mobility fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.

She has more than 15 years of experience in promoting policies and programs that help families with low incomes build financial stability, advance economic equity, and narrow the racial and ethnic wealth divide.

Prior, she was a senior policy fellow at Prosperity Now, where she developed and led strategies to advance policies that build wealth and financial stability across the lifecycle and address the racial wealth divide. Markoff holds a Master of Public Policy degree from American University and a B.A. in history from Rutgers University.
